be well, work well

Hey guys! Here's a guest post from a really great online department store called Very. They offer a huge variety of brands and items, ranging from clothing and Vans shoes to D.I.Y tools (which we as style seekers all love) to dslr cameras. Check them out here.

Stress is an affliction that affects most of us at some point in our lives and work is one of the main causes.

One of the first things to think about if you want to combat stress is exactly why you’re stressed at work. Is it something specific about the job that you hate? Remember that you can always change your job situation.

Often circumstances prevent you from leaving a job when you’re unhappy, but ask yourself if this really applies to you or are you just scared of taking the risk? If it’s the latter, picture yourself in a happier position to motivate yourself to make a change.

If it’s a case of enjoying your job but simply having far too much work to do, then think about organising your time better. When you get into the office in the morning write a list of everything you need to do that day. Try and achieve a certain amount before lunch to take the pressure off in the afternoon. Similarly, prioritise your tasks – think about tackling the most important job first, or whizz through a series of quicker jobs to free up time to concentrate on the more time-consuming work. Creating a work schedule will help you to clearly see what is achievable in the time you have.

If you find that it’s impossible to fit all of your jobs into the working week, then begin to delegate the tasks that can be easily completed by someone else. Talk to your boss about sharing the workload, particularly if you think you have more work than some of your colleagues.

Finally, just being comfortable at work can make the world of difference to your stress levels. Make sure you have a good chair with adjustable settings so you can be at the right height for you computer screen and keyboard. If you wear heels to work, think about wearing comfortable shoes for your commute and then changing at work to give your feet a rest. Vans Authentic trainers blend style and comfort for a great commute shoe. When at work, keep your back straight and legs uncrossed at your desk and try to walk around every hour or so to give your eyes a rest from the computer screen.
